Our Community Impact Partner agencies work hard every day to advance the common good in our community, and the United Way of Douglas County strives to ensure that every dollar from our donors addresses the immediate needs of our community and delivers measurable results. The organizations listed below provide direct services and programs to residents of Douglas County with funding through United Way.

As a faith-based organization, we are inspired by God's love and compassion to provide unconditional love and necessary help to people of all faiths by stabilizing and strengthening individuals and families in need across the 21 counties of Northeast Kansas. Catholic Charities provides residents of Douglas County food, rent/utility/homeless prevention assistance, financial literacy, budget coaching and debt reduction, payday loan payback refinancing through Kansas Loan Pool Project, and employment assistance.

Housing and Credit Counseling, Inc. is a non-profit agency founded in 1972. HCCI provides counseling and education about budgeting, credit and credit building, debt payment, mortgage delinquency, rental housing issues, student loan payment options and homeownership opportunities. HCCI is approved by HUD and accredited by the Council on Accreditation. HCCI is a member of the National Foundation for Credit Counseling and is licensed and regulated in Kansas by the Office of the State Bank Commissioner (License #0000003).

Senior Resource Center for Douglas County

Senior Resource Center for Douglas County (SRC) helps older residents of Douglas County remain independent and active in their homes and communities, assists them with necessary transitions to advanced care, and helps families prepare for needs of their elders. Programs and databases are designed to meet the various interests and needs of adults across the senior age and ability spectrum. As the central repository of information, SRC is the designated go-to place for objective, unbiased guidance on resources in Douglas County, Kansas. In addition to helping seniors navigate the complexities of finding what they need, SRC itself provides, sponsors, or hosts several services for seniors, including door-to-destination transportation, support groups, classes, free legal aid, social activities, Medicare assistance, AARP Tax-Aide, and much more.
Sexual Trauma & Abuse Care Center
The mission of The Sexual Trauma & Abuse Care Center is to promote a culture of consent while providing 24/7 support to anyone affected by sexual trauma and abuse in Douglas, Franklin, and Jefferson Counties. The Care Center envisions a community free of sexual trauma & abuse while supporting healing for survivors.

The mission of SB6 is to ensure that all Douglas County families of children under 6 have what they need to successfully parent their young children, thereby fostering positive parent-child relationships and preparing children for success in school and in life.
Tenants to Homeowners
Tenants to Homeowners, Inc. builds stability for families through affordable housing. The Lawrence Community Housing Trust Program stewards 70 rentals and 81 homeownership units and keeps them permanently affordable for families that make less than 80% of the area median income. Some rental units serve households with disabilities, seniors, and other very low income families transitioning from homelessness or escaping domestic violence. TTH also provides homebuyer education, post purchase advocacy, financial literacy, and wrap around services for those who need additional supports to stay housed. TTH develops affordable housing through new construction and rehabilitation, works to balance gentrification pressures, and provides stability for families, neighborhoods and the Lawrence community by making sure everyone has a place to call home.

The Willow Domestic Violence Center restores the health and safety of victims of domestic violence and human trafficking by providing safe shelter, education and advocacy in Douglas, Franklin, and Jefferson Counties in Kansas.
