American Red Cross
A multi-service agency that provides disaster relief, assistance to military and their families, CPR, first aid, swimming lessons, lifeguard training for the citizens of Douglas County. The Red Cross also supports the collection of blood.

Provides counseling services (individual, couple and family), pregnancy counseling and a support program for low income mothers. Services available to persons of all faiths.

Douglas County AIDS Project
A community-based organization that provides services, directly or with other organizations, to people infected and/or affected by HIV/AIDS. Provides free HIV counseling and testing to anyone. Also provides educational information and presentations to the community.

Douglas County Dental Clinic
The Douglas County Dental Clinic provides quality, comprehensive dental care to underserved and uninsured individuals, with a special focus on those with limited financial means and children with Medicaid and HealthWave benefits. Treatment includes emergency, preventative and restorative care. Fees for the uninsured are greatly reduced and based on a sliding scale.

Douglas County Visiting Nurses Association, Inc.
Nurses, therapists, social workers and aides provide care to frail, ill or disabled persons to enable them to remain independent in their own homes. VNA also provides CareLink, an emergency response system.

Caring, well trained volunteer and paid staff provide counseling and information for any personal concern. Free, confidential, available 24 hours. Assistance to groups after a traumatic event. Additional educational and support groups.

Health Care Access Clinic
Facilitates access and provides healthcare services for Douglas County residents with limited financial means who are not covered by private or governmental insurance programs by way of a staffed medical clinic. Over 160 volunteer health professionals and collaborating agencies, and medication assistance.

Hospice Care in Douglas County
A special kind of care designed to support individuals and their families when people are in the final phases of a terminal illness. Available services include nursing, aide care, social work and spiritual care. Volunteers provide companionship, respite care for caregivers, massage, run errands and help with meals. Bereavement support is offered to family members following the death of a loved one.

A service of United Way of Douglas County, the volunteer center is a "volunteer clearinghouse" for residents of Douglas County, providing referrals to community members who are interested in volunteering.
